Wedding Ceremonies--Short & Sweet
SHORT & SWEET WEDDING CEREMONY - 5
OPENING:
It is with joy in my heart that I welcome you this most happy occasion, as we come to witness the marriage of (Bride’s
Name) and (Groom’s Name).
MARRIAGE ADDRESS:
The step which you are about to take is the most important into which human beings can come. It is a union of two
people founded upon mutual respect and affection. Your lives will change, your responsibilities will increase, but your
joy will be multiplied if you are sincere and earnest with your pledge to one another.
VOWS:
(Groom’s/Bride’s Name) will you have this woman/man to be your wedded wife/husband, to love her/him, comfort
her/him, honor and keep her/him, and forsaking all others, keep you only unto her/him, for so long as you both shall
live? Groom/Bride respond: “I do”.
I, (Groom’s Name) take you, (Bride’s Name), to be my wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold, for better for
worse, for richer for poorer, to love and to cherish, from this day forward.
EXCHANGE OF RINGS:
(Groom’s Name), please place the ring on the (Bride’s Name), finger and repeat after me: “With this ring, I thee
wed.” Groom/Bride respond: “With this ring, I thee wed”.
Let these rings be given and received as a token of your affection and fidelity to one another.
ADVICE FOR THE COUPLE: (optional) [Family/Friends share words of wisdom for couple]
Now, (Bride’s Name) and (Groom’s Name) wish to allow for a few moments for sharing from any of you -- their
family and friends, who mean so much to them – this is an opportunity to share from your heart an expression of
support or blessing for this newly united couple in marriage, please -- keep your message brief.
PRONOUNCEMENT:
In as much as (Bride’s Name) and (Groom’s Name) have consented together in wedlock and have witnessed the
same before this company, and pledged their vows to each other, by the authority vested in me as an Interfaith
minister, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now Kiss the Bride!
